Ashley Children's Gasparilla gives Tampa kids their own pirate day on Bayshore Boulevard: a costumed parade, air shows over the bay, fireworks after dark. It lands the week before the adult parade. Children under six ride the Preschooler's Stroll in decorated wagons and strollers, which requires pre-registration. A bicycle and pedestrian safety rodeo sets up between Rome and Dakota avenues. The parade starts at Bay to Bay and Bayshore, works about a mile and a half north to Edison Avenue, and stunt planes hand off to the Piratechnic fireworks finale once the light goes. Know before you go: admission is free, with reserved seating sold separately through Gasparilla Treasures. The day runs from midday into the evening, so bring a chair or blanket. It is strictly alcohol-free. Coolers and tents are not permitted along the route, though strollers are fine and small soft-sided bags for childcare or medical needs are allowed. A limited number of free accessible spaces sit at Howard and Palm Drive with a permit; otherwise check the city's special event office for road closures.
