Church Street Christmas
37511 Church Ave, Dade City, FL 33525
About this happenin
For three December evenings, the residents of Dade City's Church Avenue close their street to cars, line the sidewalks with candle luminaries, and sing. Choirs, carolers, dancers and bell ringers perform from front porches and lawns along the seven blocks between 10th and 17th Streets, and the three churches that give the avenue its name open their doors with more music inside and a live nativity. One house runs a light display choreographed to carols. Another puts Santa on the porch. Nothing is for sale, and nobody is collecting at the door. Know before you go: Church Avenue is closed to traffic from 7 to 9 pm on December 21, 22 and 23, and admission is free. Public parking is at the three churches along the route, First Baptist at 37511 Church Avenue, First Presbyterian at 37412, and First United Methodist at 37628. The luminaries read best on foot, so park once and walk the whole stretch.
