The Achieva Clearwater Turkey Trot sends thousands of runners, walkers and costumed families down Keene Road on Thanksgiving morning, a Clearwater tradition dating to 1980. Three races share the course: a chip-timed competitive 5K at 7 a.m., the FrankCrum Family Fun Run 5K at 8, and Abe's Place 1-Mile Drum Run just after 9. All start on Keene Road just south of Gulf to Bay Boulevard and finish on the Clearwater High School football field, with live music and a costume contest around the finish. Know before you go: registration is tiered and climbs as race week nears, with recent editions pricing the 5Ks in the $35 to $45 range and the mile lower, shirt and finisher medal included. Strollers and leashed dogs are welcome at the back of the corral for the Fun Run and Drum Run, but not the timed 5K. Bikes, wagons and skates are not allowed. Road closures ring the course, so arrive about an hour early and use the sidewalks approaching the school. Packet pickup is the evening before at BayCare Ballpark.
