Winter Park St. Patrick's Day Parade
S Park Ave & W Morse Blvd, Winter Park, FL 32789
About this happenin
Central Florida's only St. Patrick's Day parade heads south down Winter Park's brick-paved Park Avenue on a Saturday morning in early March, starting at 9 a.m. The route runs from Canton Avenue to Lyman Avenue, past shopfronts and the live oaks of Central Park, and the lineup stays local: pipe and drum corps, Irish dance schools, city police and fire crews, mounted and K-9 units, high school marching units and classic cars. Nearly every group hands out candy and beads, so the curb fills with kids. The city's Community Redevelopment Agency and the Winter Park Rotary Club organize it, continuing a parade the Irish American Cultural Society of Central Florida ran for over 35 years. Know before you go: watching is free and no ticket is needed. Park Avenue and its side streets close from roughly 5:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., so head for the free municipal lots and garages a block off the avenue rather than the route itself. Wear green, and come early, since people claim sidewalk spots well before the 9 a.m. step-off.
