About this happenin
Light Up Winter Garden turns on the holiday lights in historic downtown at 6:15 on an early December evening, with the switch flipped at City Hall. West Plant Street closes to cars. Entry is free, and the whole evening runs 6 to 9, rain or shine. Live holiday acts play at four spots around downtown, and stilt walkers and other street performers roam between them. Kids get a snow area at the Downtown Pavilion. The city's own advice is to bring gloves. The night opens a month of 'Tis the Season events, so the lighted arches and photo stations stay up for weeks after.
More in December: 19 other Orlando events.
