Rooftop Films Summer Series
232 3rd Street, Suite E-106, Brooklyn, NY 11215
About this happenin
Since 1996, Rooftop Films has spent each summer carrying a screen around New York City. Some nights it goes up on a Brooklyn rooftop. On others it stands among the headstones at Green-Wood Cemetery or in a playground in Corona, with a program picked to suit the neighborhood. The films are new independent features and shorts, many by filmmakers early in their careers, and the Brooklyn nonprofit behind the series has granted more than $2 million to independent filmmakers through its Filmmakers Fund. Seasons have opened in mid May and closed in late August. Most events are free, and the bigger nights at Green-Wood sell tickets and can sell out.
