New Year's Eve Fireworks in Prospect Park

About this happenin

Tens of thousands of people pack Grand Army Plaza on December 31 to watch the midnight fireworks over Prospect Park. Live music starts at 10 p.m., which gives the crowd two hours with a band before the first shell. Prospect Park Alliance, the nonprofit that looks after the park, puts it on, and the tradition is more than 40 years old. In past years the Brooklyn Borough President has joined as a presenter. It is free. The Alliance asks you to RSVP, but tickets are recommended, not required, and nobody checks them at the event.
