Harlem Week
200A W 136th St, New York, NY 10030
About this happenin
Harlem Week started in 1974 as Harlem Day, a single day of celebration uptown, and has grown into a festival of more than a week every August. Harlem Day is still the last and largest day, with several stages, the Harlem Health Village, Harlem Broadway Row and performances from Broadway shows. The Saturday before it, Summer in the City, the second-largest day, brings more music and the Harlem Week fashion shows. A full day of concerts is held at Grant's Tomb in Riverside Park. In between come the Harlem on My Mind panel talks, a youth conference, an economic development day and the Alex Trebek Harlem Children's Spelling Bee.
More in August: 9 other New York events.
