Bushwick Open Studios
Bushwick, Brooklyn, NY 11237
About this happenin
The first Bushwick Open Studios was pulled together in 21 days. A planned Bushwick arts event was called off in late September 2006, and a small group of artists put out word that open studios were still on. On October 21 that year, 85 studios opened for one day. Arts in Bushwick came out of open meetings the following January to run it every year, and it is now a weekend when hundreds of studios, galleries, performance spaces and businesses across the neighborhood open their doors. It starts Friday evening with a ticketed opening exhibition, where the first printed guides and maps go out. Saturday and Sunday are free. Spaces all over Bushwick host exhibitions, performances, workshops and special events, and the official map shows where they are. It's one per person.
More in September: 8 other New York events.
