About this happenin
Mardi Gras Indian tribes from across New Orleans walk out in hand-sewn suits on Uptown Super Sunday, organised by the Mardi Gras Indian Council around A.L. Davis Park in Central City. It falls on the third Sunday in March, near St. Joseph's Day, and it is one of three Super Sunday celebrations held each year. Entry is free and the festival has opened at noon. Music plays on several stages, and food vendors work the blocks around the park. The Council also runs a kick-off party and a concert earlier in the weekend. The Indian Strut steps off at 1 pm from the Council's campus at 2608 LaSalle Street. Baby Dolls and social aid and pleasure clubs lead the procession, with brass bands behind them, and the route loops through Central City before ending at the park.
More in March: 14 other New Orleans events.
