About this happenin
The Bayou Classic Thanksgiving Day Parade rolls through downtown New Orleans at 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving, starting at the Caesars Superdome at Poydras Street and Loyola Avenue. It belongs to Bayou Classic weekend, which is built around the football rivalry between Southern University and Grambling State, a matchup that took the Bayou Classic name in 1974. In 2025 the route went down Poydras to South Peters, over to Canal Street, up St. Charles Avenue and back along Poydras to the Superdome. The city posts no-parking zones along the route for the day. The Fan Festival follows on the Saturday of the same weekend, 9 a.m. to noon at Champions Square beside the Superdome. It is free and open to all ages, with DJs and live performers, and a clear bag policy applies at the gate. The football game and the Friday Battle of the Bands are ticketed separately.
