About this happenin
Teams cook barbecue for judges and a crowd at Hogs for the Cause, on the UNO Lakefront Arena festival grounds in New Orleans, and all of it raises money for families fighting pediatric brain cancer. The nonprofit behind it says it has given more than $18 million so far. It runs on a Friday and Saturday in spring, with the dates shifting between March and April. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday. Kids 10 and under are free without a ticket. Everyone else buys through the festival's Tixr page, and general admission has no re-entry. Coolers, large bags, pets and outside food are not allowed in. Bands play both days, and the show goes ahead rain or shine, so pack a poncho and chairs or blankets. Friday's music wraps around 10 p.m. Saturday's ends near 7:30, and the awards run to about 10.
More in March: 14 other New Orleans events.
