About this happenin
Royal Street in the French Quarter turns into a gallery crawl for Dirty Linen Night, which began as a satirical play on White Linen Night. The name is the joke. The nonprofit Royal Street Arts District runs it on a Saturday evening in August, usually the second. Galleries and shops from about the 200 to the 1100 blocks open their doors from 6 to 9 p.m., and a few on Chartres Street join in. Musicians play along the sidewalks. You can walk in and browse without paying. A wristband covers the drinks (specialty drinks, wine, beer and water) for guests 21 and older, and it cost $20 in 2026, the same as in 2022. Wristbands and raffle tickets are sold online ahead of time and at Will Call in Galerie Rue Royale, 541 Royal Street, from noon on the day. Raffle money goes to a New Orleans charity the district picks each year.
More in August: 3 other New Orleans events.
