On the first Saturday of every month, the galleries along Julia Street, the gallery row of New Orleans' Arts/Warehouse District, open new shows with free evening receptions. The listing for the most recent walk said 5 to 8 pm. The galleries stay open through the day, and each keeps its own hours. Arts District New Orleans, which holds the walk, counts 17 member galleries and museums within a short walk of each other. Arthur Roger Gallery and LeMieux Galleries are on Julia itself, and the Contemporary Arts Center and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art are around the corner on Camp Street. The association formed in the 1990s to bring people back to a neglected run of warehouses, and the monthly openings came out of that effort.
