Crescent City Classic

The Crescent City Classic sends runners and walkers on a 10K from the Superdome through the French Quarter to City Park in New Orleans, held the Saturday before Easter. The first one, in 1979, had 902 participants. These days plenty of people walk it in bunny suits or with a cocktail in hand. The point-to-point course passes Jackson Square and Cafe Du Monde before turning up Esplanade into the park, where it finishes beside the New Orleans Museum of Art. Racing starts at 8 a.m. Walkers are welcome and strollers get their own corral. Bibs are picked up at the free expo at the Hyatt Regency on the Thursday and Friday before, never on race day. Complimentary buses run from City Park back to the start. Runners get into RaceFest free, with a DJ and a band, and a costume contest plays out on the main stage.
