About this happenin
Hundreds of candles light Jackson Square in the French Quarter on the Sunday before Christmas, when thousands of people sing carols together from 7 to 8pm. It is free, and anyone can join in whatever their faith. Patio Planters of the Vieux Carré, a neighborhood group of patio and balcony gardeners, has sponsored the caroling since 1946 and funds it through its annual fundraising events and donations. Arrive early, because the crowd sometimes outgrows the square. The gates open at 6:30pm, and candles and song sheets are provided.
More in December: 10 other New Orleans events.
