Miccosukee Indian Arts & Crafts Festival
500 US Highway 41 (Tamiami Trail), Miami, FL 33194
About this happenin
The Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida holds its Indian Arts & Crafts Festival at the Miccosukee Indian Village on the Tamiami Trail (US-41), in the Everglades. It has run every year since the 1970s and lands in the days after Christmas. A single-day adult ticket has cost $20, with lower rates for children and for seniors, teachers, military and first responders with ID. A free shuttle has run from Miccosukee Casino & Resort. Some phone carriers get no signal at the village, and some vendors may take only cash. Dancers and musicians come from Native nations across the country. Apache crown dancers, fancy dancers, hoop dancers and drum groups have all performed here. A marketplace sells Indigenous arts and crafts from across the Americas, and Native food is on sale too. The Miccosukee Fashion Show sends the tribe's patchwork designs down a runway, and the alligator demonstrations recall how the Miccosukee once hunted in the Everglades.
