About this happenin
Miami Dade College calls its April festival the leading U.S. showcase for Ibero-American film, meaning movies from Latin America, Spain and Portugal. The festival started in 1984, and the college has run it since 2003. Each screening is sold on its own. A standard screening is $15.50, one at the Olympia $20, a marquee film $25 and the opening night film $34. Processing fees run $2 to $10 a ticket. Members, students, seniors and veterans pay less, though everyone but members has to buy at the box office and show ID. Packs of six or twelve films cost less per film. Films also screen at Silverspot Cinema, O Cinema, the Colony Theatre on Lincoln Road in Miami Beach and Coral Gables Art Cinema. The festival's home since 1989 is the Olympia Theater at the Gusman Center, 174 East Flagler Street downtown.
