Florida's busiest beach has Art Deco lifeguard towers painted candy colors, and the Atlantic comes in warm. The people-watching on Ocean Drive, a block back from the sand, is as…

Lummus Park is a two-minute walk from the nearest South Beach hotels, and the parade passes three of them on Ocean Drive.
Lummus Park hosts the two-day Miami Beach Pride festival and Ocean Drive carries its parade, and both days are free to enter. The parade closes Ocean Drive to traffic through the Art Deco district, from 5th Street to 14th Street, and LGBTQ families, allies, sponsors and local businesses fill it. Former Mayor Matti Bower started it in 2008 as an initiative of the Miami Beach Gay Business Development Council. Miami Beach Gay Pride, Inc., a nonprofit, runs it and says it regularly draws more than 185,000 people. The City of Miami Beach sponsors it in part, and Miami-Dade County's cultural affairs department supports it too. At the park, two stages carry celebrity performers and DJs, alongside family-friendly activities. VIP passes are sold separately and get you a lounge with seating. A week of smaller events leads into the festival weekend, some free and some ticketed.
