About this happenin
On Sundays the Fairfax High School campus on Melrose Avenue becomes a market of more than 250 local makers and vintage sellers, open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Handcrafted goods, original art, vintage fashion and antique furniture share the space. Greenway Arts Alliance, a nonprofit, started it in 1997, and ticket money pays for free arts education for Fairfax High students. The organizers say the market has raised more than $10 million for the school. Children 12 and under get in free with an adult, groups of ten or more pay half, and online tickets can't be refunded. Limited free valet, good for three hours, is at the Fairfax Avenue entrance. The Greenway Main Stage in the food court has local musicians from 12:30 p.m. An 11 a.m. wellness session comes with a ticket: a sound bath on some Sundays, readings and writing prompts from local poets and authors on others.
