Main Street Summer SOULstice

For one Saturday afternoon around the summer solstice, Main Street in Santa Monica shuts to cars from noon to 7 p.m. The Main Street Business Improvement Association puts it on, and its listings promise live music, vendors, a beer garden and activities for kids. In the organiser's photos the bands play on stages set up in the street, and picnic tables and umbrellas sit where the traffic lanes usually are. People dance on the asphalt in front of the shops. Lately it has landed on the third Saturday of June. The organiser lists it as free, and RSVPs go through the Eventbrite page linked from its events calendar.
