About this happenin
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books fills nearly all of the 226-acre University of Southern California campus in University Park for a weekend each April. The Times started it in 1996 to bring the people who write books together with the people who read them, and about 165,000 people come each year. General admission is free, and the outdoor stages need no ticket at all. Indoor panels carry a small reservation fee, and some author events are ticketed separately. More than 300 exhibitors take part, and booksellers set up beside each signing area. Most authors sign after their panel, and each visit to the signing line is limited to three books. Live bands, poetry readings, film screenings and artists working on site share the grounds. Metro's E Line stops at Expo Park/USC and the J Line at 37th St/USC.
More in April: 8 other Los Angeles events.
