About this happenin
Since 1983 the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival has shown more than 6,000 films and media works by Asian American and Pacific Islander artists. Visual Communications presents it. VC is a nonprofit devoted to honest portrayals of Asian Pacific communities in the media arts, and it calls this the largest festival of its kind in Southern California. Screenings are spread over several theaters, among them the Directors Guild of America on Sunset Boulevard and the Japanese American National Museum. Several programs are free or pay what you can, first come, first served. Other tickets are sold online only. A festival pass covers up to ten screenings, and sold-out shows get a rush line at the box office. Winners of the festival's Golden Reel awards for short films become eligible for the Academy Awards.
