Race morning starts at Dodger Stadium at 7 a.m., and the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon runs 26.2 miles from there to Santa Monica Boulevard at Avenue of the Stars in Century City. The McCourt Foundation, which hosts it, calls the route Stadium to the Stars. A charity half marathon leaves the same start line at 8:15. The race first ran in 1986. The course passes through Chinatown, Olvera Street, Little Tokyo, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hollywood, the Sunset Strip, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Westwood, and the organiser says every part of it is open to spectators. More than 65 run club cheer zones and about 20 entertainment stops line the way, drumlines and DJs among them. Paid parking sits near the finish in Century City, and free shuttles take runners from there to the start before dawn.
