L.A. Zoo Lights is the Los Angeles Zoo's holiday night walk in Griffith Park, held on select evenings from late November into early January. Lantern sculptures and tunnels of light line the route, and the displays change from one year to the next. Only about half the zoo is open for it, and the animals spend those evenings in their night quarters, out of view. Most people walk the route in 60 to 90 minutes. You can ride the carousel or buy churros and hot cocoa, and adults can get a spiked cocoa. Santa sits for paid photos on some nights. The synthetic ice rink sells its own tickets. A daytime zoo ticket won't get you in after dark, because Zoo Lights sells its own timed tickets. Parking is free. The show goes on in the rain, and there are no refunds for weather.
