Anaheim Fall Festival and Halloween Parade
Center Street Promenade at Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805
About this happenin
Soaped windows and uprooted fences were what Halloween meant in Anaheim in 1923, so the local merchants put on a festival with games and costume contests to give kids something better to do. A parade after dark was added the next year. Volunteers still run both on a Saturday at the end of October, and the floats are community-built. It is all free to attend. The day starts at Center Greens, the park beside City Hall, with kids' and dogs' costume contests, local artists, live music and a scavenger hunt for floats hidden around downtown. A classic car show lines Center Street Promenade at the same time. At 7 p.m. the parade sets off from Anaheim Boulevard and Broadway, turns down Center Street Promenade and ends at Broadway and West Street. Volunteer announcers call it in English and in Spanish.
More in October: 18 other Los Angeles events.
