Wings Over Houston Airshow
Ellington Airport, Houston, TX 77034
About this happenin
Wings Over Houston is a weekend airshow at Ellington Airport, a few minutes south of downtown Houston, put on by volunteers from the Commemorative Air Force's Houston and Gulf Coast wings. Its proceeds pay for aviation scholarships and the restoration of historic aircraft. On the Warbird Ramp, dozens of World War II, Korean War and Vietnam era aircraft are on display, and some can be toured inside. The ramp's flying aircraft close to visitors at about 11:30 a.m. so they can start up and join the show. Flying aces and decorated veterans sign autographs through the day in the Legends & Heroes tent. Gates open at 8 a.m., flying starts around 10:30 and nobody is admitted after 3 p.m. The show is generally the same on Saturday and Sunday. Parking and the shuttle buses from the park-and-ride lots come with the ticket, and the organisers recommend the bus.
