About this happenin
More than 1,400 quilts hang in the George R. Brown Convention Center each fall at the International Quilt Festival in downtown Houston. Quilts, Inc. calls it the largest annual quilt show in the United States, and it draws more than 35,000 attendees from over 30 countries. Past the quilts there are more than 500 vendor booths selling fabric and supplies, and over 275 classes and lectures that start before the show floor opens. A judged show and special exhibits hang alongside the displays. Anyone enrolled in a class gets show admission and a 5 p.m. entry to Preview Night, the evening before opening. The show runs Thursday through Sunday. Tickets are sold by the day, and children 10 and under get in free.
