Houston Veterans Day Celebration and Parade

About this happenin

Houston marks Veterans Day with a ceremony on the steps of City Hall and a parade through downtown, both put on by the City of Houston as Houston Salutes American Heroes. The city describes it as a tribute to those who served and to their families. The ceremony opens at City Hall with acknowledgments and a keynote speaker honoring local heroes. At 11 a.m. there is a moment of silence in memory of the signing of the Armistice that ended the First World War. The American Heroes Parade follows. Veteran organizations, ROTC units, bands and supporters march, and spectators are welcome anywhere along the route, which most recently began at Dallas and Bagby and ended at Lamar and Bagby. Groups that want to march register through the city.
