About this happenin
Six stages and more than 100 musicians and bands make up the Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, held each May at Galatyn Park Urban Center in Richardson. Two of the stages are inside the Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. The City of Richardson Parks and Recreation Department has produced it for more than 30 years. Between sets there is the Prosperity Bank Marketplace of local artisans, a Food Court, acrobats and street performers on Performance Row, a wine garden and a craft beer garden. The Grove is the festival's playground, with a silent disco, a retro arcade, karaoke, adult crafts and a community mural. Artists turn guitars into artworks for the Art Guitar Auction, and the proceeds go to NETWORK of Community Ministries and the Richardson ISD Fine Arts programs. The festival also runs a Battle of the Bands, the Budding Talent Vocal Competition, a Student Art Contest and the Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest. Parking is free, with more than 8,000 spaces nearby, and the DART Red Line stops at Galatyn Park Station next to the grounds. Tickets are sold online through Etix and at the box office.
