About this happenin
The Fort Worth Music Festival & Conference spreads live music across the Fort Worth Stockyards over a long weekend in late February. Three of chef Tim Love's rooms host it: the Love Shack, the White Elephant Saloon and Tannahill's, where the Music Hall has room for about 1,000 people and the Lounge is the smaller stage for local acts. A conference runs alongside the shows. Its panels cover booking and management, songwriting, distribution, publishing and recording, and how venues and festivals are run, with working artists, managers, promoters and venue operators on the stage. The organisers say the aim is to build an infrastructure where Texas artists can start and grow a career. When the panels end, bands play the venues through the weekend, established names next to newcomers. Children 12 and under get in free without a ticket, and anyone 13 or older needs one. The White Elephant is 21 and over after 7 p.m. Parking in the Stockyards is hard, and the festival says a ride-share is the best way in.
