Red, White & BOOM is the City of McKinney's Fourth of July, and it runs in two parts on the day. A hometown parade steps off in downtown McKinney at 10 a.m., and a block party on the downtown streets keeps going until 2 p.m. The evening moves to Towne Lake Park, from 6 to 10 p.m., for a concert, a drone show and the fireworks, which launch from the Grady Littlejohn Softball Fields. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, and coolers with food and non-alcoholic drinks. Alcohol, canopies, glass containers and on-site grilling are not allowed. Parking is in designated lots only, with park-and-ride shuttles from First McKinney Baptist Church and the Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex.
