Kaboom Town is the town of Addison's July 3 fireworks night, centered on Addison Circle Park. Addison has about 17,000 residents on 4.4 square miles, and it says around half a million people come for the show. An air show of historic warbirds and stunt flights comes first. Getting into the park takes a ticket, and once tickets sell out only hotel packages are left. Inside the park are live music and food and drink vendors. Some activities are free and some cost extra. You can also watch from all over town, and Addison hotels and restaurants hold their own watch parties. It goes ahead rain or shine. At about 9:30 p.m. the fireworks go up from the south end of the Addison Airport runway, west of the park: 4,000 shells, 1,500 of them in the finale, simulcast on 100.3 Jack FM.
