About this happenin
The North Texas Fair & Rodeo is a ten-day county fair and rodeo held every August at the North Texas Fairgrounds, 2217 N Carroll Blvd in Denton. The North Texas State Fair Association runs it as a volunteer-supported nonprofit. It was incorporated in 1928, and more than 700 members and volunteers pitch in. One gate ticket covers the fair, the rodeo, the livestock shows and the concerts. Rodeo nights include PRCA rodeo, an invitational ranch rodeo, a 21 & Under rodeo, the Bull Blowout and Celebración del Toro, and mutton bustin' is on the schedule too. A headlining concert starts on the main stage right after each rodeo performance. The grounds also hold a carnival, commercial exhibits, food vendors, baking and photography contests, and junior and open livestock classes. The parade runs on the first Saturday morning and crosses the Denton Square. Anyone can enter a float, wagon, trailer or horse, and it costs nothing to join. On Saturdays a free shuttle runs from lots near the fairgrounds.
