About this happenin
Every January and February, the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo fills the Will Rogers Memorial Center and Ariat Arena in Fort Worth with livestock and horse shows, a carnival, a trade show and professional rodeo. The first show was held in 1896 on the banks of Marine Creek in North Fort Worth. The rodeo joined in 1918 as the World's Original Indoor Rodeo. Ariat Arena is its third home, after the Northside Coliseum and the Will Rogers Coliseum. A grounds ticket does not get you into a rodeo performance, but a rodeo ticket includes the grounds. Talley Amusements runs the midway, with Ferris wheels and a mega-drop. In the Children's Barnyard, kids can watch chicks hatch and ask FFA students about the calves, goats, piglets and lambs. The All-Western Parade of riding clubs, floats, horse-drawn vehicles and bands belongs to the show as well. The Fort Worth Stockyards is a separate place, several miles away.
