About this happenin
Costumed dogs and their owners gather at Dr. Glenn Mitchell Memorial Park in downtown McKinney on a Sunday in February for Krewe of Barkus, the town's Mardi Gras-style dog parade. They march the route and compete for costume awards. Every year has its own theme, and the costumes follow it. Awards go to Best in Show, Most Creative, Best Dog-Owner Combo, Best Group and Best Use of Theme. Dogs register ahead of time to take part, and downtown has free parking and a trolley.
More in February: 6 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
