About this happenin
The Cowtown Marathon began in 1979 with a 10K and a full marathon, and it’s now the largest multi-event road race in North Texas, run over a weekend in late February from Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth’s Cultural District. Saturday has the 10K and the adult and kids 5Ks. Sunday has the half, the full and an ultra. The course heads north to the Historic Stockyards, down Main Street through downtown and the Near Southside, past TCU and the Fort Worth Zoo, and back along the Trinity River through Trinity Park. The Main Street bridge is the Blue Mile, run in silence to honor fallen military and first responders. A free health and fitness expo at Will Rogers is open to everyone on the Friday and Saturday of race weekend. Race proceeds go to the C.A.L.F. Program, which visits about 400 North Texas schools a year and fits low-income kids with new running shoes and helps with their entry fees.
More in February: 6 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
