The Fort Worth Herd walks Texas Longhorns down East Exchange Avenue in the Stockyards twice a day, at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. It is billed as the world's only twice-daily cattle drive, and it costs nothing to watch. The Stockyards suggests standing at the Livestock Exchange Building or on the Observation Deck on East Exchange. Before and after each drive the steers wait in their pens, close enough for photographs, and the drovers talk with visitors and hand out steer trading cards. A free Behind-the-Drive Experience at 129 East Exchange, at 1:30 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, gets you up close with the longhorns and the drovers. There is no drive on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving Day or Christmas Day, and the Trail Boss can cancel one for weather. Drones are not allowed.
