About this happenin
Every Saturday and Sunday, more than 3,500 dealers set up at Traders Village, a 120-acre open-air flea market at 2602 Mayfield Road in Grand Prairie. It opened in 1973 and calls itself the largest weekend flea market in Texas, with more than three million shoppers a year. Booths sell tires and tools, electronics, comics and cards, truck accessories, jewelry, furniture and clothing. Parking is $6, and firearms and pets are not allowed. Prairie Playland, the ride park inside the market, opens at 10 a.m. Its Prairie Screamer roller coaster stands 87 feet high and the Fleafall drop tower lifts riders 128 feet. Pay by the ride or buy an all-day wristband. Free live music and family events run through the year, including a Christmas Market, and there is an RV park on site next to the Grand Prairie Airport.
