Denton Black Film Festival

About this happenin

The Denton Black Film Festival is held in Denton, Texas each late January and bills itself as the largest Black film festival in Texas and the Southwest. Most screenings are at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Denton. The Campus Theatre, the Patterson-Appleton Arts Center and TWU's art galleries host other programs, and Steve's Wine Bar has live music late. Between films there are filmmaker Q&As, workshops and panels. Evenings bring live jazz, and late nights run to comedy and spoken word. A virtual week follows the in-person days for anyone who cannot make the trip. Film-only and virtual-only passes sit beside a VIP all-experience pass. The Denton Black Film Festival Institute presents it, and the organisers say everyone is welcome.

More in January: 5 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
