Cottonwood Art Festival
1321 W Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75080
About this happenin
Richardson's Cottonwood Park has held the Cottonwood Art Festival since 1969, when local artists laid down blankets and set up easels hoping to sell a few pieces. The City of Richardson produces it now, with a spring show and a fall show each year. More than 200 artists exhibit, picked from about 1,400 submissions, and each show has a featured artist. Admission is free. Local musicians play the Lakeside Courtyard Main Stage and an acoustic stage. The food court sells festival food like corn dogs and gyros, and the Courtyard beer and wine garden pours local craft beer and margaritas for anyone 21 or older. At ArtStop, the children's area, kids paint on a real canvas or throw a pot on a potter's wheel. Paid activities start at $2 a child, and some, like chalk art, are free. Park at the Richardson High School football stadium or St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church and take the shuttle, or ride in and leave your bike at the free valet. The festival runs rain or shine.
