Christmas in the Stockyards takes over the Fort Worth Stockyards National Historic District for one Saturday in early December, from late morning into the evening. The Christmas Parade comes through in the afternoon. Cowboy Santa poses for photos at his workshop while Mrs. Claus reads stories, and there is a holiday ice rink. Over at the Entertainment Plaza you'll find armadillo races, a Roll-o-Roper, a cow milking contest and face painting. Old West comedy shows play at Stockyards Station and cowboy poets read on the RFD-TV lawns. Carolers and stilt walkers work the streets through the afternoon. The rodeo and bullfighting shows at Cowtown Coliseum are ticketed.
