About this happenin
Grapevine has been the official Christmas Capital of Texas since the Texas State Senate gave it the title in 2009, and the season runs about 40 days. The town counts more than 1,400 events in that stretch and more than two million visitors a year. The Carol of Lights on Historic Main Street opens it, with live Christmas music and Santa before the town's displays are switched on. The Parade of Lights brings more than 100 lighted floats and marching bands at 7 p.m., with Santa on the final float, and the CVB calls it the largest lighted Christmas parade in North Texas. On the night of the Merry & Bright drone show, Main Street closes to cars and the drones fill the sky above it. Santa's North Pole Express runs on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad with singalongs and a visit from Santa. An outdoor ice rink goes up on Peace Plaza in front of Grapevine Main Station. The parade and the drone show are free, and parking is free along Historic Main Street. The Gaylord Texan's ICE exhibit, a hall of hand-carved ice, is the resort's own ticketed attraction.
More in November: 14 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
