About this happenin
Downtown Garland's Square fills on a Saturday evening in May for the Asian American Heritage Festival, a free outdoor festival run by Visit Garland, the city's tourism office. It has run from 5 to 10 p.m. The stage has held Thai fan dances, traditional dance from Vietnam and Laos and Indian classical music, alongside student showcases and community dance troupes. Lion dancers lead the Colorful World Walking Parade, in which people in traditional dress carry flags to the main stage. A craft and artisan market and food stalls with dishes from across Asia and the Pacific fill the Square, and a headline concert closes the night. A sign language interpreter is on site, and ADA parking is in the garage behind City Hall.
More in May: 9 other Dallas-Fort Worth events.
