Wicker Park Fest
Milwaukee Avenue & North Avenue, Chicago, IL 60622
About this happenin
Wicker Park Fest runs along Milwaukee Avenue from North Avenue to Ashland Avenue for three days of independent music, and it has been going since 2004. The Wicker Park Bucktown Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit, puts it on and says no city money pays for it. More than 50 emerging and established acts play original music. More than 200 small businesses take part, with art installations, a Kids Fest area, a Pet Fest and food from local restaurants. A $10 gate donation is encouraged and goes toward the cost of putting the fest on. Dogs are welcome on a leash. The Blue Line stops at Division and Damen, both a short walk away, and you can leave and come back in. The chamber calls the fest an incubator for new talent, and past performers went on to play Pitchfork and Lollapalooza.
More in July: 16 other Chicago events.
