N Lincoln Ave between W Montrose Ave and W Wilson Ave, Chicago, IL 60625
About this happenin
Square Roots fills Lincoln Avenue between Montrose and Wilson avenues, in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, with three days of live music each July. It runs from Friday evening to Sunday night. Recent editions opened at 5 p.m. on Friday and at noon on Saturday and Sunday. Local restaurants and food vendors line the street, including vegan and gluten-free choices, with local craft beer and cocktails to drink. Families can head for the Kid Zone at Leavitt Street and Sunnyside Avenue, which has its own stage and inflatables from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gate asks for a donation. It is split between the Old Town School of Folk Music and the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce, and it pays for music scholarships, artist residencies in public schools, the neighborhood's farmers markets and its holiday decorations. The festival is an easy walk from the CTA Brown Line's Western stop.
