Wells Street Art Festival
1560 N Wells St, Chicago, IL 60610
About this happenin
Six blocks of Wells Street in Old Town, from North Avenue to Division Street, become the Wells Street Art Festival on the second weekend of June. The side streets at Scott, Goethe, Evergreen and Schiller count as part of it. Every artist is juried, and the organisers say only about 60 percent of applicants get in. Live music plays through the weekend, and local restaurants and street vendors sell food beside a festival bar. Leashed dogs are welcome. Alcohol brought in from outside is confiscated at the gate. For directions the organisers suggest mapping to 1560 or 1202 N. Wells, and the Sedgwick stop on the Brown Line is four blocks west. There is no ticket. The Old Town Merchants and Residents Association puts the festival on without city money and depends on a donation at the gate to pay for it.
