About this happenin
More than 200 artists from across the U.S. and Canada show fine art along the tree-lined streets of Chicago's Old Town Triangle Historic District at the Old Town Art Fair, held one weekend each June. Every piece has to be an original made by the artist. An independent jury of art professionals picks the artists each year, and nearly half are new. Admission is a suggested donation, and children get in free. It includes the Garden Walk, a self-guided tour of more than 60 gardens, many of them private and open only during the fair. Live music plays on two stages. The food court serves lobster rolls and tacos, and the Children's Corner has face painting and crafts. Volunteers run the fair, and proceeds benefit the Old Town Triangle Association and the Menomonee Club. The Wells Street Art Festival, a separate fair, runs a few blocks south the same weekend. The main gate is at Lincoln Avenue and Wisconsin.
More in June: 21 other Chicago events.
