Taylor Street Little Italy Festival
Taylor St & Ashland Ave, Chicago, IL 60607
About this happenin
Chicago's old Italian neighborhood takes over its own main street each August for the Taylor Street Little Italy Festival, held on Taylor Street between Ashland and Racine Avenues. Ron Onesti of Onesti Entertainment produces it, and he was born on Taylor Street. The Little Italy Chicago Neighborhood Association sponsors it. It runs Thursday through Sunday. Six stages carry Italian American music, crooners, tribute bands, magicians and stilt walkers, with children's entertainers in the mix. More than 50 vendors sell food and merchandise, and the plates run to Italian beef, sausage sandwiches, pizza by the slice, cannoli and gelato. Festival parking is at the University of Illinois Chicago, on the northwest corner of Taylor and Ashland. The National Public Housing Museum at 919 S. Ada Street sits on the route and runs guided tours of a historic apartment from the Jane Addams Homes, which opened along Taylor Street in 1938.
More in August: 13 other Chicago events.
