About this happenin
The weekend before the Pride Parade, Chicago Pride Fest takes over North Halsted Street between Addison and Grace, a two-day street festival in the city's Northalsted neighborhood run by the Northalsted Business Alliance. Three stages mix national and local LGBTQ+ acts, with the best of Chicago drag in between. Teens get a Youth Pride Space of their own. The Proud Pet Parade goes through on Sunday at noon. More than 150 vendors sell food and merchandise. Entry is a suggested $20 donation. It pays performers and festival workers, and part goes to local nonprofits and to upkeep of the 14 Chicago Pride Crosswalks on Halsted, which the alliance bills as the longest permanent LGBTQ+ pride installation of its kind in the world. The Red Line stops at Addison by Wrigley Field, and the Red, Brown and Purple lines stop at Belmont. Bags are checked at the gates.
